Festival jump-off June 28th – July 7th
Featuring artist from all over Brooklyn including The Exit, art-rock indie darlings Dragons Of Zythn, the flamboyant new soul of Tiombe Lockhart alongside the hardcore hip-hop of Game Rebellion,
As usual the bands represent various styles coming from all over The United States, New Orleans’ Mighty Fine rocks out to a sweaty funk, shoegazers Cultry from D.C. and L.A.’s Swivel, artrock noise from D.C’s The Apes and Bear In The Wolf, L.A.’s The Negro Problem- "flamboyant pop so deliriously tuneful it could raise your cholesterol" (The Village Voice). Drugstore Cowboys & Philly’s Philmoore Browne and newer artist to the AP scene like the promising Taylor McFerrin a multi-talented artist who builds songs from scratch/improving with sythns, samples, vocals and beat boxing. Also The Smyrk, Jacksonvilles power pop of Whole Wheat Bread, Las Vegas’punk heroes The Objex , Ellui, Suffajet and CX Kidtronix

The Apes
Afro-Punk also kicks off a it’s first annual Block Party with DJ Rich Medina and No Surrender. Black Panther’s co-founder Booby Seale will introduce the film segment. The festival highlights What We Want Black documentary on the Black Panthers.
The most anticipated film may be Afro-Punk Director James Spooner' s 2nd feature, White Lies,Black Sheep. Also recommended A Conversation with Basquiat,Right On, Space Is The Place, What We Want,What We Believe, Migus 68 are among the many films.
