Sonic Youth annouce new record The Eternal on Matador + tracklisting

NYC's king of art-noise Sonic Youth's 16th album, The Eternal, will be released on double vinyl, compact disc, and digital album by Matador on June 9th. They added former Pavement bass player Mark Ibold, a touring memeber who makes his debut in the studio with the band, produced by John Agnello and Sonic Youth, The Eternal , SY’s return to the independent label seems a natural fit for a band that inspired indie culture itself. Matador’s Gerard Cosloy says, "We’ve not had a record in our recent history that’s been the subject of nearly as much speculation and anticipation. Suffice to say we’re pretty amazed at the way the band delivered something this neoteric while still sounding like, well, themselves." And that's a great thing.

Canadian by way of Somalia and one-time Minneapolis resident, the MC, poet, activist K'Naan understands that life is not a game, his music reps his homeland lovely,direct,poignant and informative without being preachy. Making a stop in Minneapolis as he starts his tour to promo new album Troubadour. When he's not running Afternoon Records, blogging at MFR, or championing young artist(Haley Bonar, The Battle Royale),Minneapolis' Ian Anderson also finds time for his first love, making gorgeous indie-pop in One For The Team. It’s fuzzy boy/girl harmonies and Poster Children meets Velocity Girl style pop have been gaining attention outside the Twin Cities. Their track "A Better Job" was played on MTV’s "The Real World: Brooklyn" and they were invited by Spin.com into their our offices to strum a few tracks. Most recently, they made an appearance on the Daytrotter Sessions where they played 3 tracks from their critically praised Build It Up, and one unreleased track "Strange Overtones".

Rocc had performed Jaylib songs live, but this was the first show with J. Dilla, who had just moved to Los Angeles and joined the tour without being announced on the flyers.
